DyNNamite Video

Launched in 2005, DyNNamite is BBI Brandboost’s specialist division for all things DNN, including website design and development, custom module development, theme and skin design and creation, hosting, and support.

One of only a handful of approved DNN providers in the UK, the name DyNNamite has been synonymous with DNN development for nearly 20 years.

One service that DyNNamite provides is training in the use of the DNN content management system. The training is usually conducted face-to-face and provides an in-depth explanation of how to truly get the most out of this powerful CMS.

There are times though, when a truly immersive training experience is not required; when a website administrator wants an initial introduction or overview of the system, or where someone needs a refresher course to run over the basics.

To better meet the needs of these audiences, the team at DyNNamite asked their colleagues within BBI Brandboost to produce an ongoing series of DNN Tutorial videos – these would be posted on YouTube to be accessible at any time by anyone needing to know, for example, how to add a new page to a DNN website.

We agreed that a store of online DNN tutorials would be an excellent resource for DNN administrators and, working with the DyNNamite team, we began to analyse the most common questions from DNN administrators …

The Work

Understanding the DNN platform meant that BBI Brandboost could plan out exactly what content would be used for a series of tutorial videos. We had to show how the open source platform is flexible, rich in features and very easy to use.

We used our video editing tools to capture screen recordings and create some simple and easy to follow tutorials. The team felt that it was vital to narrate the processes shown on the screen, and so we recorded a voiceover for each video. The scripts were written as a collaboration between the DNN experts in DyNNamite and the copywriting team in BBI Brandboost.

To promote the videos we created a tutorials page on the website, posted them on YouTube and shared them across relevant social media channels.

We also catalogued and embedded the videos within a newly-built area on the DyNNamite website to make it easy for DNN administrators to bookmark one comprehensive source of DNN training videos.

The DNN tutorial videos produced by our team have proved immensely popular, with many of them receiving thousands of views. The channel we set up on YouTube (to host the tutorial videos) has over 120 subscribers and continues to attract new users.

The videos have acted not only as a useful educational resource for DNN administrators, they have also been highly effective as a content marketing tool – establishing and reiterating the expertise of the DyNNamite team to DNN users in need of assistance.
