Wearable technology at its best is a fantastic development and the news that Met Police officers will be trialling wearable cameras on their uniforms is particularly welcome. It’s a great way to gather evidence and to make policing more transparent. It could go a long way towards protecting the public from unacceptable police actions and protecting police officers against spurious allegations.

Wearable cameras would have sorted out the “who said what” furore of the Plebgate affair and many other incidents that have come down to one person’s word against another. Let’s hope they become a familiar feature of policing in the future.
