Yesterday morning, I received an email promoting a special offer on an electric saloon car. The deal piqued my interest – good spec, decent price – so I clicked through to take a closer look. After scanning the finance site, I wanted to dig a bit deeper into the car’s features (the overview from the finance site was limited), so I headed to the manufacturer’s website.
That’s when things started to unravel.
A top-level vehicle page on their website had a broken link. Frustrating, but forgivable. What wasn’t forgivable, however, was the dead-end I hit when I tried to report it. They had a live chat facility in place, but despite my efforts, nobody responded. I was left talking to the void.
This wasn’t a local garage. It was a major manufacturer. A brand with millions of pounds invested in product development, marketing, and customer experience – all undermined by a neglected website.
