Digital Marketing for Travel Companies: Turning Interest into Enquiries

Jason Freeman | 18 May, 2026 | Return|

Digital Marketing for Travel Companies

For travel companies turning attention into genuine enquiries and bookings can be a struggle.

People researching long-haul travel rarely make quick decisions. They compare providers, explore options, and often return multiple times before committing. That means your marketing needs to support the full journey.

Visibility Alone Doesn’t Deliver Results

We often speak to travel businesses that are getting decent levels of traffic, but not seeing the level of enquiries they expect.

In one project, the brief was clear: increase visibility in a highly competitive market. Activity focused on SEO improvements, paid campaigns, and social media. Traffic increased, engagement improved, and the brand became more visible.

But the real progress came from what happened next.

By refining the messaging, improving on-page content, and aligning campaigns with what customers were actually looking for, that increased visibility began to convert into genuine enquiries.

That’s the difference - visibility on its own doesn’t deliver results. It needs to be supported properly.

A More Joined-Up Approach

The travel companies seeing the best results are not relying on one channel. They are combining activity so that each part supports the other.

That usually includes:

  • SEO to build long-term visibility
  • PPC to capture immediate demand
  • Content to answer questions and build confidence
  • Email to stay in touch with potential customers
  • Strong visuals to reflect the quality of the experience

When these elements are aligned, marketing becomes far more effective. Each channel reinforces the others, rather than operating in isolation.

Supporting How People Actually Book Travel

Travel is not a quick purchase for most people.

Some will enquire early. Others will take weeks or months, comparing options and waiting for the right moment. If your business isn’t visible and persuasive throughout that process, you’re likely to lose them along the way.

That’s why consistency matters and making sure your business is seen, understood, and remembered at the right times.

Where Opportunities Are Being Missed

There are a few common issues we see:

  • Messaging that doesn’t clearly explain what makes the business different
  • Pages that don’t match what the visitor was expecting
  • Weak or unclear calls to action
  • Marketing activity that isn’t joined up

What Better Performance Looks Like

When the structure is right, the results become more predictable.

In the example above, increased visibility led to higher engagement - but it was the improvements to messaging and alignment that drove more enquiries.

That’s the goal. Not just more traffic, but better outcomes from that traffic.

Want Your Marketing to Deliver More Enquiries?
