Every cloud even the cloud of uncertainty has a silver lining

Jason Freeman | 09 Jun, 2017 | Return|

every cloud has a silver liningThree takeaways from yesterday’s election to give business owners cheer:

1. Targeted marketing works

Data collation and segmentation is now so advanced that any and all target markets, no matter how small, can be sent precise messages worded in just the right way. The proof that moved this idea from theory to theorem is the swing of voters in previously solid seats (for either main party).

2. Drawing upon the lessons of this election will make your marketing more effective

Whereas the Tories spent their time, effort and money on reaching voters in Labour strongholds, they should have been directing those resources at their own defences. Without the right strategy, no tactics will ever allow you to reach your goals. Fortunately, this election has shown the value of that truism and it can be used to inform your marketing through the rest of this year and beyond.

3. Export opportunities are stronger than ever

The exit polls last night caused the pound to nosedive. While it has rallied slightly this morning, opportunities for exporters – derived from the low value of Sterling - remain tantalisingly bright. With the right marketing to overseas arenas, business can boom for the UK’s manufacturing and engineering sectors. You know that saying about the best time to make hay? Well, even if the cloud of uncertainty is obscuring it slightly, the sun is definitely shining.
