Square Mile is an independent investment research organisation that provides in-depth funds research, tailored support and investment services for financial advisers, institutions and asset managers.
This client required a website to present its investment opinions and ratings of funds from selected fund management groups. A number of enhanced features were required to provide functionality for the Square Mile team to put their quantitative and qualitative evaluation into effect.
The site was to be primarily targeted at regulated professional financial advisers, helping them with the design and maintenance of centralised investment propositions. Square Mile’s analysts focus on investment research and closely communicate with fund managers about their judgements and reaction to markets. Square Mile explains that their research and views “are based on clearly articulated outcomes and objectives, from which adviser firms can identify suitable funds to meet the needs of their clients.”
There was also the requirement to communicate to other financial services operations. For instance, Square Mile provides strategic consulting, governance and support for wholesalers operating in both the adviser and direct-to-consumer markets, including life companies, investment platforms and banks.
This was an extensive and challenging website development assignment that, from the outset, we were excited to undertake.
The project involved the creation of a “shop window” professional site together with a wide range of advanced features and functionality, with tools developed for the full ongoing management of information. The primary objective was to create a website that was the go-to location for regulated professional financial advisers to obtain independent investment support and guidance.
BBI Brandboost provided a number of bespoke modules, managing the total development path from scoping to delivery. An important aspect of this work was the creation of the Academy of Funds rating system, presenting active and passive open-ended funds that are regulated or recognised by the FCA and drawn from across the whole market.
A further innovation in the original web design project was the creation of a secure My Square Mile section for registered users with a range of benefits including the ability to save fund information as favourites and to export fund information to Square Mile branded PDF files for support in the adviser’s communication with their clients.

Square Mile has created one of the strongest and most respected qualitative investment research teams in the UK and their website provides a powerful tool to communicate their invaluable financial judgements to target audiences.
